Don't forget about RECERTIFICATION for 2020!
Get started by going to the EPSARC recertification instructions web page and follow the four steps. Here's some things to note:
- Use the I want to: box to select Register for Clinic or Fitness Test to get started!!!
- Select a clinic
- Pay the registration fee
- Look for the green button saying, "Online Lessons". Click it to get started with the on-line modules, test, and SafeSport training. Be aware that It takes 1.5 - 2.0 hours to do the SafeSport training.
- Look in the Member Information window to check the status of your background clearances. If the message is green, your clearances are good for the 2020 season (and maybe longer). If it's red, you need to update your clearances for the 2020 season. The message will look something like this:
2018 RM Officer Approved
Update Required in 2023
Make sure you complete all of the steps on the EPSARC recertification instructions web page, so when you show up for the clinic, you don't get sent home.
What about that Referee Insurance that EPSARC purchased for all of us last year?
- We need to renew at our expense, however we get a group discount: (click on image below to renew)
RBSRA’s Annual Reading United At The Field Gathering
Wilson High School - Gurski Field
|
On Saturday, June 15th, Reading United will face the Ocean City Nor’easters and we will be there! RBSRA Chapter members will receive free admission ($10) and a concession ticket ($5). If you are not a member, you will have the opportunity to enjoy these benefits by joining the Chapter at the event. Jim Baker and Al Cross will be just outside the gate with the concession tickets and signing up new members.
This year we will again have access to the referees assigned to the game and be able to listen to their pre-game conference. And, for those that are able to stay after the game, we will be able to ask them questions about how they handled specific game situations. The game Assignor is also working to have an Assessor attend the game and sit with us. This is an annual event that the Chapter uses for a time of fellowship and also as a training opportunity. We observe the referees and discuss their performance, the decisions they make, and different ways of handling situations. It’s a great opportunity to meet fellow RBSRA referees for the first time and to renew old friendships. Join us! Let us know you’re coming! It's not necessary to register, but we would sure like to know to be on the look-out for you. Plus, we'll be able to send you an email, if we have a news update for you. You can sign up by using the event form on the RBSRA home page: www.rbsra.com We hope that you will join us. |
The Reading Berks Soccer Referee Association (RBSRA) held it’s year-end dinner on Sunday December 2, 2018 at Mission BBQ in Wyomissing. The association is proud to announce that Marabelle Burkert and Jayden Seymour are this year’s recipients of the Young Referee Award. The RBSRA is dedicated to providing year-round education, mentoring, and support to young officials throughout the county and Marabelle and Jayden were among quite a large group of qualified peers available for this award opportunity. Featured in the photograph (L-R) are Jayden, Bob Geyer (President), Patrick Casey (US National Soccer Official and Eastern PA Youth Mentor), and Marabelle. This award is proudly given to both individuals and the association would like to express it’s sincere congratulations and continued good luck.

RBSRA Board Nominations Are Open through December 5th.
Your RBSRA Chapter is taking nominations for positions on the Board. Several long time officers are stepping down at the end of the year and we are looking for fresh blood to fill their shoes. If you know someone who loves soccer, enjoys working in a small group, and has the energy to bring new ideas to life, we want to hear about them! Click on the NOMINATION button to open a nomination page.
What are you getting into? The Board is finishing up the first year of a three year rebuilding period for the Chapter. Our focus is to renew the way we interact with and provide support to the Berks area referee community. We are excited about the programs and events that we introduced this year and are enthusiastic about kicking off the projects slated for the coming year. As a Board member, you get to help reshape the Chapter! |
What Rule Changes?
Did you know there has been a BIG change to the Laws Of The Game rule book? Have you heard that USSF has created new standards for small-sided games and introduced many new rules for those games? Are you aware of the new concussion rules and how referees are supposed to enforce them?
If you need to brush up on any of these topics, all the information that you need is right at your fingertips on our new webpage, Know the Rules, under the Game Day Info tab. Check it out!
